Interest in Running:

For me, IBRBS is a work-in-progress; an aspiration yet to be achieved. It is a social organization that, for many of its members, is little more than a place to get a discounted background check and performer insurance. However, its mission must always be about how to best support its members. If elected to The Board of Directors I will concentrate my attention on a single goal of how The Board can make members and affiliate chapters have positive outcomes as holiday performers through mentorship and to strengthen the fellowship for everyone in our groups. My personal mantra is, “It’s about the members, stupid.”

Background

My work history starts in 1971 as a newsboy (remember that) and continues for the next five-and-a-half decades with a number of jobs including pharmacy, balloon decor, and political activist. However, when asked “what did I do for a living,” I will answer with the two avocations that have fed my soul: Artistic Director/Producer/Stage Director of a theater company and a professional Santa Claus. It’s been said that directing is a lot like herding scorpions, but it was an extraordinary training ground for getting a number of divergent individuals with their own agendas to work together and produce the best piece of art possible. Those skills will be invaluable when working with other board members, the membership, and staff of IBRBS. Also, being a professional Santa Claus gives me the ability to understand and appreciate the needs of all our holiday performers. .
